LEARN ADVANCED METHODS IN DEMOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS

ICPSR SUMMER PROGRAM WORKSHOP IN
LONGITUDINAL ANALYSIS OF HISTORICAL DEMOGRAPHIC DATA

July 18–August 12, 2011

Ann Arbor, Michigan

Historical demography is an interdisciplinary field with a long history of important contributions to population studies and to the understanding of the past.  This research has revealed a great deal about fundamental demographic processes such as household and family dynamics, the transition to smaller family units, pre- and post-industrial population dynamics, the demographic transition, migration patterns, and demographic responses to economic stress.  This 4-week course will emphasize the use of event history analysis and data management of historical databases drawn from European, North American, and Asian populations.  Longitudinal data will be employed to construct time-varying covariates and contextual variables for individuals, families, and households. Methodological issues such as censoring and incomplete information will also be addressed.  Read more information about the course at http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/icpsrweb/sumprog/historical-demography.jsp.

Application deadline:  May 2, 2011
Applications
are competitive. Participants will be selected on the basis of their interest in the topical areas, prior methodological training, and potential for research contributions that promote longitudinal analysis. Participants should be familiar with quantitative methods, including regression analysis. Those who need preparation in statistics are advised to attend quantitative courses during the June–July session of the ICPSR Summer Program. A limited number of travel grants (between $500 and $2,000 US) will be awarded. For those admitted to the workshop, no fee will be charged to attend the Longitudinal Analysis course. On-line applications begin in February at www.icpsr.umich.edu/sumprog/.  Support provided by the National Institutes of Health and the ICPSR Summer Program.

Erectile dysfunction is characterized by the regular or repeated inability to obtain or maintain an erection. It is analyzed in several ways: Obtaining full erections at some times, such as when asleep (when the mind and psychological issues, if any, are less present), tends to suggest that the physical structures are functionally working. If you order a preparation viagra online in us, you receive it not simply confidentially, quickly, and with home delivery, but also for quite acceptable money viagra for sale online best generic viagra online buy viagra That may be changing, thanks to recent research from John Hopkins Medicine. Researchers have discovered the biochemical process necessary to stay erect, a discovery that may lead to new treatments for erectile dysfunction, an issue that affects 15 to 25 perfect of 65-year-old men long-term, according to WebMD. Back pain and muscle aches occurred in less than 7% of patients and usually occurred 12-24 hours after taking tadalafil. The back pain and muscle aches associated with tadalafil were characterized by mild to moderate muscle discomfort in the lower back, buttocks, and thighs, often aggravated by lying down. The back and muscle aches resolved in most patients without treatment within 48 hours. When treatment was necessary, acetaminophen (Tylenol) and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as Motrin, Advil, or Aleve were effective. Approximately 0.5% of all the patients using tadalafil discontinued the drug due to back pain or muscle aches. A psychosocial examination using an interview and questionnaire may reveal psychological factors contributing to erectile dysfunction. The sexual partner also may be interviewed to determine expectations and perceptions encountered during sexual intercourse. Tadalafil should not be used with alpha-blockers (except Flomax), medicines used to treat high blood pressure and benign prostate hypertrophy (BPH) because the combination of tadalafil and an alpha-blocker may lower the blood pressure greatly and lead to dizziness and fainting. Examples of alpha-blockers include tamsulosin (Flomax), terazosin (Hytrin), doxazosin (Cardura), alfuzosin (Uroxatral), and prazosin (Minipress). The only alpha-blocker that can be used safely with tadalafil is tamsulosin (Flomax). When tadalafil (20 mg) was given to healthy men taking 0.4 mg of Flomax daily, there was no significant decrease in blood pressure and so patients on this dose of tamsulosin (Flomax) can be prescribed tadalafil. The only alpha blocker that has not been tested with tadalafil is alfuzosin (Uroxatral) and no recommendations can be made regarding the interaction between the two. cheapest viagra online australia viagra online viagra online cheap uk buy viagra online A recent study suggests an epidemiological association between chronic periodontitis (periodontal inflammation) and erectile dysfunction, similarly to the association between periodontitis and coronary heart diseases, and cerebrovascular diseases.[17] In all the three conditions (erectile dysfunction, coronary heart disease and cerebrovascular diseases), despite the epidemiological association with periodontitis, no causative connection has proved yet. get generic viagra online best price viagra How effective is tadalafil (Cialis)? The safety and efficacy of tadalafil in the treatment of erectile dysfunction was evaluated in 22 clinical trials involving more than 4,000 men. Seven of these trials were randomized, prospective, placebo-controlled studies of 12 weeks' duration. Two of these studies (involving 402 men) were conducted in the United States, and the other five studies (involving 1,112 men) were conducted outside the United states. Two of these trials were conducted in special populations with erectile dysfunction; one in men with diabetes mellitus, another in men who developed erectile dysfunction after nerve-sparing prostate cancer surgery. Cialis online uk Who should not use tadalafil (Cialis)? Tadalafil can cause hypotension (abnormally low blood pressure, which can lead to fainting and even shock) when given to patients who are taking nitrates. Patients taking nitrates daily should not take tadalafil. Most commonly used nitrates are medications to relieve angina (chest pain due to insufficient blood supply to heart muscle because of narrowing of the coronary arteries). These include nitroglycerine tablets, patches, ointments, sprays, pastes, and isosorbide dinitrate and isosorbide mononitrate. Other nitrates such as amyl nitrate and butyl nitrate are found in some recreational drugs called "poppers." Gene therapy is being developed that would allow for weeks or months long effect, supporting erections. This gene therapy involves injection of a transfer gene, calcium-sensitive potassium channel (hMaxi-K), into the penis.[36][37][38] buy viagra online thailand buy viagra online canada Cialis online uk What precautions should be taken when using tadalafil? In most healthy men, some of the drug will remain in the body for more than two days after a single dose of tadalafil. Metabolism (clearing of the drug from the body) of tadalafil can be slowed by liver disease, kidney disease, and concurrent use of certain medications (such as erythromycin, ketoconazole, and protease inhibitors). Slowed breakdown allows tadalafil to stay in the body longer and potentially increase the risk for side effects. discount generic viagra online buy viagra online Cialis online uk
